The Good Die Young
[Blues Bar 10:04:07 Review by Nick Ellam Pics Alex Crosby] |
This was a VIP ticket only gig to see ‘The Good Die Young’ This is not a regular occurrence down my local but I could see why!
| The four piece indie rock band, hailing from Leeds, already have a fan base INXS of 14,000.They've caught the attention of many more in the US via their myspace site. The band is made up of: Chris Stocks (vocals & guitars), Anthony Lewis (bass & vocals), Paul Key (drums) and Paul Young (guitars). |

They split the gig into three sets to showcase some of their self-penned songs. Some of these - their own ones - reminded me of early 90s bands like Stone Roses and Black Grape.
The first set was kicked off with ‘Age of Man’ and went quickly into ‘The Curse’ which were melodic ballads and certainly loud enough! They did, however, grab the attention of the crowd.

Personally, I found them a little short and needed something to fill them out. We got three more songs before a short acoustic set by Chris and his guitar which I enjoyed but would have liked the bassist to join him.
The last set rocked, my favourite being a song ‘Cut From’ which was in the first set but I can definitely see it as the single. Rumours are that MTV may play this track when their DVD is released. The Good Die Young are currently in the running to play at the V festival so check them out on: |

...see if you like them and of course to vote for them to play! In my opinion, if this band carry on with the backing they have and with a few tweaks here and there, then they’re on to a winner. I wish them luck! |
