Jason Feddy

A review by Nick Ellam 18.11.07

I have seen Jason play the Blues Bar more than any other band over the years and he still delivers a cracking show.

This was the first of two gigs he’s playing at this venue whilst visiting from his home in California, the next will be an evening show on Sunday 2nd December which I’m already looking forward to.

Jason never seems to stick to a playlist as he has an impressive repertoire and plays songs that work for the audience. Old favourites included ‘perfect love’ from the album ‘I thought the moon was meant for me’, of course, ‘Katies car’ to ‘The Road’ a John Martynesque classic.

After an hour of original material and a short break, Jason kicked off with a superb cover of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ by Dire Straits then had the entire bar singing along to ‘all that you do to me’.

A proportion of Jason’s songs are about dysfunctional relationships but as Suzie pointed out the lyrics are inventive and thought provoking.

With two and a half hours of this gig gone, he tried to wind it up, but was persuaded to carry on for another half hour. Enticed to the stage was Sarah Bear who joined him for a version of ‘fall at your feet’ by Crowded House. I enjoyed his version of ‘Use Me’ by Bill Withers and ended with ‘Even the Rain’ which is still an old favourite.

Jason has a fantastic fan base in Yorkshire, so it was good to see some old faces who came to see him many times over the years and nobody left disappointed especially after experiencing the tremendous atmosphere.

There are still a few tickets available for the next gig and you will certainly get great value for money. See you there!
